Eating with the Seasons was a farm-to-table menu tasting series hosted in collaboration with Fresh Cafe. Each month, I collaborated with a local farm to source ingredients that were in season. Once I selected the ingredient, I would start by having a test kitchen to develop 5 items to include in the cafe's menu. Eating with the Seasons was spotlighted during Honolulu's Restaurant Week in 2013.
Rooted was displayed at Honolulu's first Bloomingdale's location from May 2016-September 2016. (A collaboration with Jen May Pastores)
We challenged ourselves to be loose, playful, and make a mess. We didn't sketch, We didn't use pencils, we didn't fix mistakes. We selected 4 phrases and lettered them on architectural photographic prints. Rooted was my first art show and that start of something really good!
Artists Statement: ROOTED is a constant push and pull of the ocean, a noticeable shift in the sand that sinks down with each arriving wave. It’s the salt that heals, the formidable fire that creates and destroys, and the wind that whispers through our skin. What does it mean to take roots as a resident? To call a place home if you’ve left or just arrived? ROOTED is our exploration with finding a place to call home in Hawaii.
